The Salvation Army
Everyone knows what good work The Sallies do in the community. They provide essential services to Kiwis in need, and they've been doing it for decades.
Our supermarkets and customers are proud to lend a hand. Countdown has provided considerable support to The Salvation Army over many years.
We support The Sallies with food banks with food donations across the country. Countdown has also helped to sell the popular Salvation Army 'It's a Wrap' Christmas CD.
In times of need, Countdown also helps raise funds for the Salvation Army and our customers and employees have donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to many of our appeals.
Following the Christchurch Earthquake on February 22, our customers and employees raised $536,648 for the Salvation Army Canterbury Earthquake Appeal. In addition, over NZ$950,000 raised by Woolworths Supermarkets & Dick Smith stores in Australia taking the total to over $1.48million.

On Friday 4 March, the Countdown team across the country donned Canterbury colours in support of those affected by the devastating earthquake.
